Ares is now compatible with Windows 7. As many are now aware, the versions hosted on sourceforge are no longer being maintained, which translates to an outdated ares download. This is why people are now encouraged to download the software from the new official Ares development site, because some kind folks over there have been generous enough pick up the project and continue its development and address many pending bug fixes that have been accumulating over the years of abandonment.
Connecting to the
Ares Network is very simple.The top bar reads
within seconds. Sometimes, depending on your firewall and location, the connection might not happen instantaneously. The first thing you should do is exit the program, by right clicking the little A icon on your bottom right hand side of your computer screen and selecting "quit Ares". Then relaunch it from your desktop icon. Give it a few minutes to read .
Another trick, is to go to your Ares control panel and click on the red "disconnect" tab, wait a few seconds and then click on the green "connect" tab. If you find yourself not connected after these two tricks, then perhaps your firewall settings are the issue.
